Nutrition

Nutrition does not only happen during a race.  In fact 99.9% of your nutrition happens away from racing.  Nutrition is what is going to make us happy and fit.  Racing and "doing" triathlon is the fun we get to have because we are happy and fit.

To me there are a couple key aspects to nutrition.
The first is that we should eat real food.  Corn that has been modified in a lab is not a real food.  Food coloring is not a real food. Preservatives are not real food. In fact, none of the things are food at all and do not belong in our food...period!
The second is that we, as human beings, should be eating mostly plants.  I'm not going to go all vegan on you and say you should never eat meat, but as Americans I know you are not eating enough fruits and vegetables.

You may be asking, "how do I make sure I'm eating the right things?"

Step 1: Go through all the "food" in your house, read the ingredient list, and throw away anything that has the following:
-High Fructose Corn Syrup
-The word "Hydrogenated" anywhere in the ingredients.
- Blue, yellow, red, any color or number of color.
- Artificial Sweeteners: Acesulfame-K, Aspartame, Equal®, NutraSweet®,  Saccharin, Sweet’n Low®, Sucralose,
          Splenda® & Sorbitol, to name a few.
There are many other things that I don't buy, but for now I think this is a good enough start.

Step 2: Stop eating/drinking dairy. The only milk humans are supposed to drink is human milk. If you can find a donor, then go for it!  Coconut, Almond, & Hemp "milks" are my preferred. Make them at home if you can. See my how to video here: http://youtu.be/Lp5iZHzkPps

Step 3: Please do not buy that meat at the grocery store. If you can't find Organic Animal Flesh that ate what it is supposed to eat (Cows eat only grass, chickens eat bugs and seeds that they find on the ground, etc...) then don't eat it.  You are eating what the animal ate. If the cow ate Antibiotics and growth hormones...so are you. Poultry, in America, is dunked/washed in bleach and then packaged for you to eat...bleach and all.

Step 4: Only eat WHOLE GRAINS.  I think this is simple enough to figure out. Flour is not a whole grain.

More "Steps" to come...
